Ready for Independence (Day)

Whether you are a US citizen or a history buff, how much do you really know about the Independence Day holiday in the United States celebrated on July 4th?

In 1776, before gaining independence from England under King George III, there were only about 2.5 million people living in those 13 colonies.  Massachusetts was the first state to declare the 4th of July a State holiday and it was Thomas Jefferson who was the first President to celebrate July 4th in the White House in 1801. But it was not until 1870 that the 4th of July was declared a national holiday in the United States.

For you real trivia buffs, there was one U.S. President that was born on the 4th of July and three that died on July 4th. Can you name them?
