The drink named Vesper originated with Ian Fleming’s first Bond novel, Casino Royale, when it is ordered by James Bond in the midst of a high-stakes poker game in a casino in Montenegro. That scene was played out visually by Daniel Craig, staring as Bond, in the 2008 motion picture of the same name. In Fleming’s original work, a Vesper consists of “Three measures of Gordon’s, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet.”
